Abia 2023: Igwe says he’s still searching for platform, berates APC, PDP
A governorship aspirant in Abia State, Prince Onuoha Igwe, has disclosed that he is searching for credible and acceptable platform to actualize his bid to become governor of the state in 2023.
He maintained that the Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressive Congress and All Progressive Grand Alliance have failed and disappointed the Nigerian electorates in leadership with no meaningful efforts to enhance the socio-economic and infrastructural growth and development of the society and as well as, the welfare of the people.
Prince Igwe who stated in an interview on Sunday, on the heels of the readiness of political parties to commence primaries and the main general election in 2023.
He described the governing APC, PDP APGA and other dominant parties as strange bedfellows, expressing total regret that Abia has continued to retrogress in the last twenty four years of inception of the current democratic process in the country.
The aspirant who also regretted the alleged economic downturn, and backwardness in the infrastructural development, hinted that the successive administrations in Abia state particularly have weaponized hunger, hardship and penury, as people and residents of the state have been turned to beggars, which can best be attributed to the lopsided and draconian policies and programmes of the PDP administration in Abia state.
According to him, “PDP, APC, APGA are the same. No difference. They are conglomerates of strange bedfellows and those who have failed to deliver the basic democracy dividends with the mandate entrusted to them. All the parties lacked internal democracy and have disappointed the populace in deepening democratic process in the state and the country at large.
Igwe reiterated that ‘it is time for all Abians to join in the current revolutionary mission to salvage the state from clutches of bad governance necessitated by lack of good policy thrusts towards improving people’s livelihood.’
The politician also expressed total dismay at the ‘level of sycophancy among the majority of our leaders at all level, who equally resort to trading of conscience, than to speak truth to powers; and also, the unpatriotic citizens indulge in vote buying during electioneering period.
On the controversies over zoning arrangement regarding the 2023 governorship seat of Abia state, Prince Igwe posited that zoning system has failed to breed the needed economic and Infrastructural growths, and development in the state.
He further maintained that Abia people are yearning for a governor that has the requisite capacity, ability and competence to solve the current myriads of economic and infrastructural deficits facing the state, regretting that the PDP and the APC have disappointed the masses, and have equally failed to fulfill their electoral promises.
Igwe therefore called on the electorates to troop out on the election day and make use of their Permanent Voters Card and vote out failed politicians.
