Despite the dry season now being experienced across the country , about seven communities have been reportedly submerged by flood in Shiroro local government of Niger state as a result of the construction of Zungeru hydro dam.
District Head of Gurumana in Shiroro local government, disclosed when the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello visited Gwada internally displaced persons camp.
Umaru said the affected communities are Gurumana, Palei, Nmachi, Npani, Zangoro, Masuku and Magani and called on the state government to come to their aid.
He said most of the affected persons from the communities are seeking shelter in Kuta and Gwada IDPs camps, calling on the Federal government to immediately pay compensation of the affected communities.
Responding, Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello, lamented on the situation of IDPs at the camps and said that efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy in communities affected by bandits.
Bello said he was in torch with the Federal Ministry of Works to ensure immediate release of fund for payment of compensation and relocation of the affected communities.
The governor attributed increased cases of banditry to activities of informants who give information to the bandits to perpetrate their evil acts.
He expressed optimism with the response from the security agencies in the fight against banditry, adding that government will continue to give necessary support to security personnel to win the fight against banditry.
