The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three secondary school students aged 12, 18 and 18 over a suspected cult initiation during an activity tagged “Kito Day” in Owode-Yewa, Ogun State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, October 23, 2026, saying the operation followed intelligence about a planned cult-related activity involving students from different secondary schools in the area.

According to the statement, the command received the intelligence on October 22, prompting the Divisional Police Officer in Owode-Yewa to deploy detectives to the scene in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.

The operation led to the arrest of the three students and the recovery of items suspected to be connected to the planned activity.

The recovered items included one English axe, two knives, one short cutlass, a rubber toy gun and a school bag.

The police said the operation successfully foiled the suspected cult initiation, adding that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The command reiterated its commitment to combating cult-related activities and maintaining security across the state.

The suspects are expected to undergo further investigation to establish their alleged involvement in the planned activity.
