First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday flagged off the distribution of food items under the National Community Food Bank Programme in Sagamu, Ogun State.
The programme was launched at the Primary Health Centre, Makun, where Senator Tinubu was received by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON; his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; and other dignitaries.
The National Community Food Bank Programme is aimed at providing food support and relief to vulnerable households and communities across the country, as part of efforts to tackle food insecurity and improve the welfare of Nigerians.
Speaking during the event, the Ogun State Government expressed appreciation to the First Lady for bringing the initiative to the state, noting that the intervention would provide meaningful support to vulnerable residents in Sagamu and other communities.
The state government said the programme reflected the shared commitment of the Federal and Ogun State governments to addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable households and ensuring that citizens have access to basic necessities.
The flag-off in Sagamu further highlighted ongoing collaboration between the Federal Government and Ogun State Government in implementing social intervention programmes aimed at improving the living conditions and well-being of residents.
