Suspected kidnappers have abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The victims were identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin boys, Peter and Paul. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning while she was taking the children to school.

Chief Adelabu, who recently left President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet to pursue the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Oyo State, was said to have been informed of the development shortly after the abduction.

Confirming the incident, Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, disclosed that the matter had been reported to security agencies. He stated that the 43-year-old victim was seized by armed men at about 7:30 a.m., with her two sons forcefully taken alongside her.

Awogboro noted that Mrs. John-Paul is the youngest among the five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. Before retiring voluntarily last year, she worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and First Bank Pension Custodian.

According to the statement, she relocated to Ibadan after retirement to care for her children while making arrangements to reunite with her husband, Mr. John Paul, who had earlier moved to the United States.

As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the victims remained unknown, while efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Oyo State Police Command were unsuccessful.
