The Director General (DG) of Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA), Engr. Haruna Dikko Gusau has said that the Agency was instituted to create solid access to healthcare facilities and emergencies, enhance equal socio- economic growth and development, and bring an end to insecurity in Zamfara state.
The salient aim of creating the Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA) is to build road infrastructure, bridges, culverts, and make way for equal development in our localities, and bring people in the rural areas closer to the programmes and policies of the state government.
This pioneer DG disclosed this during a brief interview with journalists in his office at Samaru area in Gusau, where he established that, as a leader of this dream manifestation team, the first of its kind, creatively instituted by the visionary Governor of Zamfara state Dr. Dauda Lawal, “my major duty is to ensure the realization of the good ambition of His Excellency in reaching out to the rural areas and making roads accessible for easy transportation of goods & services for the promotion of socio- economic growth among our people”.
He recalled that, since the inception of his administration, Governor Dauda Lawal’s “Rescue Mission” agenda for the State, centered on six key pillars designed to revitalize the state, primarily focusing on security, agricultural transformation, educational reform, and infrastructure development, etc. His administration aims to transform the state into an agro-industrial hub while securing more investments.
“This cannot be done in the urban areas alone. His Excellency saw the people in the rural areas as major stakeholders in the execution of his administration’s agenda, hence the creation of RARA,” he said.
“The salient aim of creating Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA) is to build road infrastructure, bridges, and culverts and make way for equal development in our localities, bringing our people in the rural areas closer to the programmes and policies of the state government,” he added.
Again, “The sincere implementation of the six-point agenda cannot be completed without gaining access to the people in the rural areas who also deserve to feel the impact of the administration of the visionary Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal”.
“Strategically, Roads, Culverts, and Bridges may first be created in hard-to-reach areas to create access to the several people living in those areas”.
RARA will provide possible avenues for the locals to have easy access to several agricultural, educational, and healthcare facilities made available by the people’s administration of Governor Dauda Lawal in our localities.
In addition to providing easy access for various security personnel in the event of emergencies in rural areas. With RARA, farmers in our localities will have it easy to bring their farm produce seamlessly to market, and make ways for investors to penetrate our rural areas and invest in farming for increased food security within and outside the state.
Zamfara people will stand a chance of appreciating the good works of Governor Dauda Lawal’s led administration because, the large farm products produced by farmers in the rural areas will now be moved to our urban markets with lesser efforts and providing the local farmers with reserved energy for more productivity, while also giving a better chance for consumers in the urban areas and other parts of the country, availability of the food at affordable prices.
RARA focuses on planning, development, and implementation of programs and policies that would improve the lives of people living in rural areas.
The DG described the unity of the past and current Governors of the state as a great opportunity to aspire for better opportunities for the state and expand the scope of the administration for greater achievements.
He lauded the leadership acumen of Governor Dauda Lawal, describing him as an Excellent Personality and a creative leader who is poised to promote peace and administer dividends of democracy to his people with honour and provision of viable projects that are characterised with quality and cost effectiveness.
He reiterated by urging everyone in the state to come together in unity, promoting peace, and social cohesion while ensuring the return of Governor Dauda Lawal for a second term come the 2027 general elections.
