Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, (Marafan Sokoto) representing Zamfara West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, has presented a cash donation of Thirty Million Naira (₦30,000,000) to families of persons killed during recent bandit attacks in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to the statement signed by Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad, (Danmadamin Birnin Magaji) Chairman, Publicity Committee and made available to Journalists in Gusau, the financial support, targeted at cushioning the hardship faced by bereaved families and assisting with medical bills of injured victims, was presented on behalf of the Senator by the Federal Commissioner representing Zamfara State at the National Population Commission, Hon. Muhammadu Muttaka Rini.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Palace of the Emir of Bukkuyum, HRH. Alhaji Muhammad Usman over the weekend and was attended by community leaders, religious figures, youth representatives, and a delegation drawn from across the six Local Government Areas that make up the Zamfara West Senatorial District:

In his message delivered by Hon. Muhammad Muttaka Rini, Senator Yari expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and the injuries sustained by innocent residents during the attacks.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Aljannatul Firdaus to the souls of the deceased, and to grant quick and complete healing to those nursing injuries.

According to Hon. Muhammad Muttaka Rini, each of the twenty five deceased families from Bunkasau and ‘Yarkalma will receive one million naira, while each of the ten injured victims currently in hospital will receive five hundred thousand naira.

According to him, the beneficiary families were identified through a collaborative process involving the Emirate, district heads, ward heads, religious leaders, and representatives of the victims’ families to ensure transparency and fairness in disbursement.

He further extended condolences to the Emir of Bukkuyum, the Bukkuyum Local Government Council, and the entire people of the constituency, noting that the pain of one community is the pain of all.

Senator Yari, through his representative, used the occasion to reassure citizens of Zamfara State that the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is taking decisive steps to end banditry and restore lasting peace across the North West.

He acknowledged the ongoing military operations, the increased deployment of security personnel, and the renewed synergy between federal and state security structures. “President Bola Tinubu is fully aware of the security challenges confronting our people, and his administration is working round the clock to restore peace, not just in Zamfara, but across all affected states. We are seeing new strategies, better equipment for our troops, and stronger community engagement. I urge our people to remain prayerful, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies,” the Senator added.

He commended the gallantry of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies for their sacrifices in the fight against banditry and kidnapping in the region.

In his response, Emir of Bukkuyum, Alhaji Muhammad Usman described Senator Yari’s intervention as “timely and fatherly.” He noted that beyond the financial relief, the physical presence of leaders from across the senatorial district has given victims’ families a sense of belonging and hope.

The delegation included the Zonal Coordinator of the Zamfara West Senatorial District Office, Alhaji Sha’ayau Yusuf, who also served as the committee’s Secretary, and the State Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Hassan Marafa Damri, among others.
