Police overpowers banditry, arrests kidnappers, rescues victims in Zamfara

In line with the ongoing efforts to rid Zamfara State of all forms of banditry and criminality, the Command has recorded significant operational successes in its sustained fight against banditry.

On 14th April, 2026, at about 0200 hours, unknown armed bandits stormed the residence of one Mamuda Buhari, a staff member of the SLT Department, Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, located on the outskirts of Kaura Namoda town. The assailants abducted him alongside three of his children.

As contained in a statement signed by DSP Yazid Abubakar, ANIPR, Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command to Journalists in Gusau.

Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in collaboration with local vigilante groups, swiftly mobilized and trailed the suspects by following their footprints. This prompt and coordinated response led to the successful rescue of the three abducted children, who have since been reunited with their family.

Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing bandits and secure the safe rescue of the remaining victim.

In a related development, on the same day at about 1614 hours, Police Tactical Teams on patrol at Mada District in Gusau Local Government Area came under attack by suspected bandits riding on a motorcycle.

The operatives responded decisively, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

The Command assures members of the public that intensified efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks operating within the State.

The Zamfara State Police Command urges residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and actionable information to aid the fight against crime and criminality.
