Huriyya Lawal attends national food-bank launch assures sustainable collaboration for best practices

The Wife of the Governor of Zamfara State, Her Excellency, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, participated in a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, marking the inauguration of the Board of Trustees and the official launch of the National Community Food Bank Trust Fund.

The initiative, spearheaded by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, represents a strategic national response to food insecurity and a commitment to improving access to nutritious food for vulnerable populations across the country.

In a statement issued by Comrade Rabi’tu Yusuf, Press Secretary, Office of the First Lady, to Journalists in Zamfara State, Huriyya Lawal commended the vision, leadership and commitment of the organisers, reaffirming Zamfara State’s readiness to collaborate, adopt best practices and scale innovative programmes that deliver lasting socio-economic benefits to its people.

Speaking at the event, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal described the initiative as timely, impactful and deeply responsive to the current socio-economic realities faced by many Nigerian households. She noted that the programme goes beyond addressing hunger, emphasizing its role in restoring dignity and fostering hope through a sustainable, community-driven framework.

The Zamfara First Lady further highlighted that the objectives of the Trust Fund strongly align with the development priorities of the Zamfara State Government, particularly in strengthening local food systems, empowering smallholder farmers and enhancing nutrition outcomes for women and children.

She expressed confidence in the potential of the initiative to drive meaningful grassroots transformation through strategic partnerships, public awareness and targeted interventions aimed at reducing malnutrition.
