Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has presented a brand new car to Mr. Solanke Taiwo, a primary school teacher at Ansa-Ur-Deen Main School I, Kemta Lawa, Abeokuta, in recognition of his emergence as Nigeria’s Overall Best Primary School Teacher.
The symbolic presentation took place at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, in the presence of the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbagbu, and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Mariam Oloko.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Arigbagbu described the teacher’s national recognition as a reflection of the state government’s deliberate and sustained investment in the education sector.
He said the reforms introduced under the present administration have revitalized teaching and learning across the state.
According to the commissioner, Ogun State’s consistent outstanding performances at both state and national levels demonstrate the meaningful transformation taking place in the sector. He cited the state’s dominance in external competitions, particularly the JETS contests, where Ogun students clinched 18 out of 24 available awards in one edition.
He attributed the feat to strategic planning, improved teacher capacity development, and steady funding of educational programmes over the past six years.
Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education system through continuous training and retraining of teachers. He noted that workshops, seminars, digitization initiatives, and the introduction of AI-powered teaching platforms would remain central to improving learning outcomes.
In his response, Mr. Solanke expressed gratitude to the governor for fostering a conducive environment for educators to thrive. He pledged to remain dedicated to his profession and to continue contributing to the state’s educational advancement.
The governor emphasized that the gesture was not only to celebrate excellence but also to inspire other teachers across the state to strive for greater achievements, assuring that merit and hard work would always be recognized and rewarded.
