Pro-Biafra Protest Fallout Forces Lucky Felix Ogbe Into Hiding

Lucky Felix Ogbe, a 35-year-old activist born in Orlu, Imo State, but grown up in Benin City, Edo State has gone into hiding after the Imo State Police Command declared him wanted over his alleged involvement in pro-Biafra protests that turned deadly across parts of the South-East. Ogbe was said to be a regular face at the demonstrations, which began as peaceful gatherings but later degenerated into violent confrontations.

Security sources said the protests escalated into clashes that resulted in the killing of a police officer and several youths, prompting a major manhunt for key organisers and participants. Ogbe was reportedly identified by security agencies as one of those linked to the frontline coordination of the protests, forcing him to flee Imo State to evade arrest.

The declaration of Ogbe as wanted reportedly left him constantly on the move, avoiding public appearances and severing contact with close associates. Family sources said the pressure from security agencies and fear of prolonged detention pushed him to relocate outside the South-East in search of safety.

It was gathered that Ogbe in Benin City, Edo State, attempted to live quietly while distancing himself from political activism. However, his past involvement in the pro-Biafra movement continued to trail him, as his name allegedly remained on police watchlists.

His security situation worsened in August 2023 when suspected cultists invaded the Okhun and Oluku areas of Benin City in a violent clash that left at least 10 people dead. During the unrest, Ogbe’s residence was reportedly attacked because of his involvement in constant anti-cultists protests that exposed cult activities in Benin City.

Community sources said Ogbe’s anti-cult stance reportedly angered the groups affected by the security clampdown, who allegedly placed him on their wanted list for leaking their operations to the authorities.

Threats against him intensified as arrests and disruptions to cult activities increased. This forces him to flee again to avoid being killed.

His wife and mother were said to have escaped during the attack, while Ogbe has since remained in hiding, with his whereabouts unknown.
