The Lagos State Government has urged residents to reflect on the gains recorded in 2025 and to prayerfully prepare for a prosperous New Year.

This call was made in a press release issued by the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, through the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Adeoti Sobowale, following the cancellation of the 2025 Greater Lagos Countdown.

Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka noted that the end of the year provides an important opportunity for Lagosians to pause, take stock of personal and communal achievements, and renew their commitment to peace, unity, and shared prosperity across the state.

“As 2025 draws to a close, residents are urged to strengthen family bonds, promote harmony within their communities, and uphold the values of responsibility, compassion, and resilience that continue to define Lagos State,” she stated.

On behalf of the Lagos State Government, the Commissioner expressed appreciation to residents, partners, creatives, and stakeholders who have supported the Greater Lagos Countdown over the years, helping to establish it as a symbol of cultural celebration, togetherness, and hope.

While explaining that the countdown event will not hold this year, Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka reaffirmed that the spirit of the season remains one of gratitude, reflection, and optimism, as Lagos looks ahead to a New Year filled with promise and opportunity.

“The State Government wishes all residents a peaceful end of the year and a prosperous, healthy, and fulfilling New Year,” she added.
