A stark warning echoed through the halls of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development as global partners, government agencies, and civil society leaders convened for the 7th Annual International Conference of the Regy & Henry Amazing Grace Foundation. The gathering spotlighted an escalating global crisis fueled by gender-based violence (GBV), drug trafficking, and exploitative sex work.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Elieji Nnena, Director of Vocational Studies at the National Mass Education Commission (NMEC)—participating under the banner of the Regy and Henry Amazing Grace Foundation—stressed the urgent need for coordinated action. She underscored that the conference’s sub-theme, “Breaking Barriers, Building Futures, and Community Engagement,” represents a critical roadmap for confronting the intertwined challenges affecting vulnerable communities.

Mrs. Nnena highlighted the transformative power of education, literacy, and vocational training as essential tools in combating drug abuse, reducing reliance on sex work, and preventing the spread of GBV. She emphasized that these interventions are not only preventive measures but critical pathways for reducing human trafficking and migrant smuggling across regions.

Stakeholders at the conference called for stronger collaborations, innovative community programs, and sustained investment in women and youth empowerment to halt the growing threats facing families and communities worldwide.

The event concluded with a renewed pledge from participating organizations to intensify advocacy and expand support systems for at-risk populations—aiming to build safer, more resilient futures for all.
