Nigerian music video director, ThankGod Omori, popularly known as TG Omori, has accused an online media outlet of putting his life at risk following heated reactions to his recent comments on homosexuality.

The filmmaker, who ignited controversy over the weekend after describing same-sex relationships as “evil,” said the situation escalated after a publication allegedly framed his remarks as a publicity stunt to promote his fashion brand.

Omori had posted on X, “Having the same gender sex is evil,” a statement that immediately drew criticism from LGBTQ communities and their allies around the world.

However, the director said what began as an online debate turned into a frightening ordeal when a magazine article intensified the backlash against him, claiming he was leveraging homophobia to sell his signature sunglasses.

According to him, the publication “gaslighted a global community” and painted him as an opportunist, a move he believes has triggered a wave of coordinated attacks against him.

“This is a media house trying to set me up and risk my life by gaslighting a global community they serve to blacklist me for speaking my truth in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he wrote on X while reacting to the article shared by Zikoko Magazine.

He added that he has received “death threats and wishes day and night,” insisting the situation has now gone beyond online criticism and has become a security concern.

The development highlights the deepening tension between public figures expressing personal beliefs and the global digital communities that often respond fiercely to such opinions, a clash that increasingly puts celebrities in the crossfire of ideological battles and online mobs.
