‘I have been prevented from travelling again’ —Senator Natasha cries out

Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has alleged that her international passport is being withheld, preventing her from travelling abroad.

The lawmaker made the revelation during a live Facebook broadcast on Tuesday morning, expressing frustration over what she described as a recurring act of intimidation.

According to her, the latest incident occurred shortly after she marked her second anniversary in office and decided to take a short break.

“Having completed the celebration of my second year, I decided to take a week off, and my passport is being withheld again. The same thing happened before,” she lamented.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan insisted she had committed no offence and that there was no court order authorizing the seizure of her passport or restricting her movement.

“I have committed no offence, and there is no order from any court to seize my passport or deny me the right to travel,” she said.

The senator further alleged that during a previous incident, an immigration officer informed her that the order to withhold her passport came from Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“The last time it happened, the officer in charge told us that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, instructed them to withhold my passport and prevent me from travelling,” she claimed.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Senate President’s office nor the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) had responded to her allegations.
