Abdulkadir Kure University is fastest growing University in Nigeria -VC

Vice Chancellor of Abdulkadir Kure University (AKUM), Minna, Niger state Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko has claimed that the University is the fastest growing public University in the country today.
He made this known when he received on a courtesy visit the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger State Council in his office in Minna, Tuesday 26th August 2025.
Professor Paiko disclosed that the university which took off with about 100 students in 2024 now have over 700 students as according to him more students were on the process of registration as the University was matching towards greatness.
The Vice Chancellor further disclosed that in accordance with the University policy of expansion, over 3,500 students have already applied for 2025/2026 academic session.
Professor Paiko further added that the University was already emerging as a centre of entrepreneurship in all endeavour particularly in the area of specialized Education.
He explained that via Abdulkadir Kure Centre for Basic and Professional Studies and the GreenTech ICT Hub Initiative, the University was opened for collaboration with professional bodies especially with the media professionals.
Earlier, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Abu Nmodu explained that the aim of the visit was to cement the already existing collaboration between the two organisations.
Comrade Abu Nmodu who underscored the role of the media in informing, enlightening, educating and entertaining the public, intimated the Vice Chancellor that the NUJ was running an educational courses on media and journalism under the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) at the IBB Pen House in Minna.
He assured the Vice Chancellor and the University management of the Union’s continued support for the institution to achieve its set goals.
