Kano Public Complaints Commission (PCC) would continue to promote peace and unity through reconciliation and public engagements for a better livelihood.

This was disclosed by the state commissioner Honourable Ibrahim Zakari Sarina while engaging with the representatives of the deported migrants from Libya, Niger, and other countries that channeled their complaints to the commission on Tuesday.

Honourable Zakari Sarina told the deported migrants that the commission will do its best to make sure that justice is done to make them comfortable.

He stated that “We are working selflessly to promote peace and unity through public-organisational engagements in order to ensure that every side is committed to ensuring that there is a good understanding and resolutions so as to curtail injustice”.

Sarina stresses that migration from one place to another is something that is under rules and regulations; therefore, migrants should follow due process whenever they decide to travel near and far.

He lamented that “Our commission is always ready to receive public comments and address them amicably, and we have achieved a lot in our previous actions, and I believe that your issue would also be resolved as we received your complaints”. He reassured.

Narrating their ordeal, Sirajo Dauda Mohammed from Nassarawa local government area disclosed that they suffered at the hands of authorities in Libya and the Niger Republic before getting asylum at the International Organisation for Migration IOM as a result of their deportation to Kano.

“We were captured, tortured, and treated like animals, especially in the Niger Republic, before flying us to Kano, where we decided to lodge our complaints at the Public Complaints Commission Kano, where we are enjoying excellent treatment”. He emphasized.

Malam Sirajo told the commissioner that ” We are duly registered to benefit from the IOM gesture and we were issued with ATM cards to withdraw some certain amount credited to our various accounts but we found out that only Ten thousand naira was credited to each one of us which is a breach of promise from either the international organisation for immigrants or from the Nigerian embassy in Niger Republic.

He called on the Public Complaints Commission under the dynamic leadership of Honourable Ibrahim Zakari Sarina and his experienced management team to assist them and ensure that their entitlements are paid as regulated by the IOM.
