President Bola Tinubu is in a high-level closed-door session with Nigeria’s top security officials, including the service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, which commenced shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, is taking place against the backdrop of worsening violence in several regions, particularly Plateau and Benue States.

Earlier in the day, security convoys were seen entering the Aso Rock premises, signaling the urgency of the gathering.

Tinubu returned to Abuja on Monday night after an 18-day official trip to Paris and London.

His return coincides with heightened concern over deadly incidents, especially in Benue State, where at least 56 people reportedly lost their lives in recent attacks attributed to armed herders.

The violence has led to widespread displacement and the destruction of homes, despite ongoing military interventions in the affected regions.

Sources close to the presidency revealed that the President is deeply concerned about the escalating insecurity.

He is meeting with senior figures, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, to review existing strategies and explore new approaches to enhance safety in troubled areas such as Plateau, Benue, and Borno
