President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerian Muslims to remain steadfast ambassadors of justice, compassion, and peaceful coexistence. He also encouraged them to engage with society constructively and conscientiously.
The president made this appeal on Friday while declaring open the 11th Triennial National Conference of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, held in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The event, themed “Islam and Muslims: Responsibilities and Relevance in a Pluralistic World”, forms part of the society’s “Gateway 2025” initiative.
Represented by the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, President Tinubu commended the society’s leadership for its unwavering commitment to Islamic values, education, and community service. He described Ansar-Ud-Deen as a noble institution founded on faith, knowledge, and public service.
“I salute the leadership of this great society, especially its president, Alhaji (Dr) Abdul-Rafiu Ademola Sanni, and the entire National Executive Council for their steadfast stewardship and the remarkable work they continue to do in upholding the society’s founding ideals,” Tinubu said.
Reflecting on his personal ties with the organization, Tinubu acknowledged the historical bond between his family and Ansar-Ud-Deen, praising its contributions to Islamic education, the establishment of schools and healthcare centers, and its support for both the spiritual and social needs of the community.
“The society has become a vital pillar of our national identity, nurturing generations of God-fearing, intellectually sound, and socially responsible individuals,” he added.
Speaking on the theme of the conference, Tinubu noted its significance in today’s diverse world. He emphasized the need for Muslims to remain firmly rooted in their faith while also contributing meaningfully to broader societal development.
“This conference should serve as a platform for honest reflection, innovative ideas, and actionable recommendations. From youth development and moral leadership to educational reform and economic empowerment, your deliberations must guide us towards unity and collective progress,” he stated.
President Tinubu also reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a more inclusive, secure, and prosperous Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Our goals—to revive the economy, uplift the poor, and restore confidence in public institutions—require the support of value-driven organizations like Ansar-Ud-Deen,” he said. “I deeply appreciate your continuous prayers, counsel, and support. Remain steadfast in your noble pursuits and continue to promote unity, progress, and enlightened citizenship.”
In his welcome address, the President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Alhaji Abdul-Rafiu Sanni, described the conference as a testament to the society’s commitment to unity, faith, and service to humanity. He emphasized its role in assessing past achievements, addressing current challenges, and planning for the future.
“We are here to reaffirm our dedication to educational advancement, moral guidance, and national unity,” he stated.
Also speaking, the Secretary-General of the National Council of Islamic Affairs and Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, encouraged the society to maintain its core values of educational excellence, principled methodology, and adaptability—qualities that have distinguished Ansar-Ud-Deen over the years.
