At the Inspire Her Conference held on Thursday, 17th April 2025, at Nicon Luxury Hotels, Abuja, Mrs. Obiano Uju Ogogo and HRH Queen Mother Amb. Amina Temitope Labinjo Ajayi JP, popularly known as Mama Diaspora, advised Nigerian women to take action instead of waiting and wailing in their limitations.

Mrs. Obiano Uju Ogogo said: “Nigerian women have had a lot of inspiration, but beyond this inspiration, we are moving towards action.”

Speaking to Standard-Times Nigeria correspondent, Mrs. Ogogo stated: “I have been very inspired. Today, we have been mentored, by both female and male mentors. But the truth is, we’ve told a lot of stories and had deep conversations. Right now, I am driven by action.”

Mrs. Ogogo encouraged women, saying she hoped the event had inspired them to act beyond what bothers them, whether it’s discrimination in the workplace or exclusion: “Those things will always exist. These new antics are never going to stop.”

She added: “If we wait, wail, and cry because of those issues, they will remain. That means women will be held back. I therefore make a clarion call to all women: let us move beyond what holds us down and start taking little steps,” she stressed.

Mrs. Ogogo, emphasizing the importance of mutual support, said: “I love the phrase ‘women support women.’ Even the woman who wants to be supported must make herself available for support. She must be doing something, it doesn’t have to be much. It can be something small. With dedication, the person meant to help you will find you through that thing you’re doing.”

She continued: “If you lock yourself in your room, crying and complaining, ‘my man doesn’t love me,’ ‘my boss is wicked,’ ‘my uncle hates me’, you won’t move forward.”

Acknowledging the reality of these issues, Mrs. Ogogo said: “We know these things exist. I am very sensitive, not insensitive. I know the problems are real. But what we must tell ourselves is: while the problems are there, we must keep moving and find ways to resolve them.”

She concluded: “The Africa they thought would treat women in a certain way isn’t treating them that way anymore.”

According to Mrs. Ogogo: “If we keep complaining, the people we expect to listen aren’t listening. So if we continue to suffer in silence and complain, we may never achieve anything for ourselves,” she stated.

Earlier at the event, Mrs. Ogogo empowered five women with a total cash gift of ₦500,000, with each receiving ₦100,000. She emphasized that she believes in action and offered words of encouragement to Nigerian women: “Regardless of your situation, keep making progress, little by little. That’s what matters most,” she concluded.

In a related development, the Chairman/CEO of Silicon Valley Nigeria Energy Ltd., HRH Queen Mother Amb. Amina Temitope Labinjo Ajayi JP (Mama Diaspora), during the Inspire Her Conference, awarded 20 scholarships to Nigerian women. She said: “It takes a village to train a child.” Mama Diaspora charged Nigerian women to wake up to their responsibilities.

She was also one of the recipients of the Inspire Her prestigious awards, given to notable and inspiring women across the country.

The Inspire Her Conference 2025 was attended by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mrs. Amina, along with other notable, inspiring women from across Nigeria.
