Calabar Marathon set to splash N1 Million each for both sex winners

The Cross River State Tourism Bearue, the organizer of the third edition of the 2025 Calabar Marathon race event fixed on Saturday, 19th April, 2025, has announced that a staggering cash prize of N1 million each is set aside for both male and female winners of the marathon race competition.
This declaration was made in Calabar by the Managing Director of Cross River State Tourism Bearue, Prince Ekpenyong Ojoi, during a Press Briefing to kick-off the 2025 edition/an invitation to intending athletes/participants to rush to Calabar for the auspicious event this weekend.
Prince Ojoi indicated that the Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu have given full Support with other sponsors, the hosting of 2025 edition tagged “Sweet Prince” Marathon Event Star price peg at N1million instead of N500.00 which was for 2024 edition.
He further explained that the essence of the press briefing is to announce that Calabar Marathon event is here as part of the design of Cross River State Tourism Bearue calendar to pull the youths in Nigeria to restrain from drugs and crimes involvement into Calabar Marathon race for a healthy life and wealth creation.
Also speaking at the event is Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Otu on General Duties, who stated that the Calabar Marathon event is a tourism project to ensure that the Cross River State youths focus on positive developmental reasoning that will keep them healthy and wealthy instead of drug addiction.
The event which is for people within the age of 18 – 65 years is a deliberate design of the state Governnor, “the Sweet Prince” to create awareness with youths to shun drugs and crimes but rather put attention on wealth creation.
The destination Cross River State Governor representative further promised that within the remaining tenure of His Excellency’s administration, the Calabar Marathon race event will continually increase the star prize each year until the N10 million target is realized for the Calabar Marathon winner.
