Etsu Nupe calls for community development in Niger

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, has called on traditional titleholders in the Bida Emirate to actively engage in community development initiatives.

He made this appeal during a thank-you visit by Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Dangana, the newly appointed Baraden Gabas Nupe and state Commissioner of Primary Healthcare.

Etsu Nupe emphasized that traditional titles are awarded to those who significantly contribute to the socio-cultural and economic welfare of their communities.

The Royal Father however commended Dr. Dangana for his exemplary work in these areas.

Responding, Dr. Dangana expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honor and dedicated his title to the Governor of Niger State, Umar Mohammed Bago, who has empowered him to serve within the state’s executive council.

He reiterated the governor’s commitment to enhancing primary healthcare services, announcing the construction of 100 new step 2 primary healthcare centers across the state.

These facilities he added will be equipped with inpatient wards, operating theaters, standard medical laboratories, and doctors’ quarters, aimed at improving health service delivery.

As the new Baraden Gabas Nupe, Dr. Dangana shared his vision of utilizing this recognition to combat child killer diseases and reduce maternal mortality, thereby strengthening primary healthcare services at the grassroots level.

He conveyed that this honor will drive him to further his service to humanity.

Pharmacist Yahaya Aliyu Mayaki, the Mayakin Nupe, praised Dr. Dangana’s contributions and highlighted the significance of Etsu Nupe’s acknowledgment.

He encouraged Dr. Dangana to see this honor as motivation to enhance his community contributions.

Mayaki also addressed the pressing issue of moral decay among the youth, stressing the need for collaborative efforts from leaders like Dr. Dangana to combat youth unrest and foster a safer, more productive society.

This meeting underscores the crucial role of traditional leadership in promoting community welfare and the positive impact of healthcare initiatives in the State.
