Heavy storm destroys properties in Kwara community

A powerful rainstorm has caused core damage to most public and private properties in Ogele, a community in the Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The damage, which occurred on the night of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, destroyed several buildings, including schools, faith houses, and a health center. Among the affected Community Secondary Schools and multiple buildings, including mosques.
Also, the storm damaged power infrastructure, including electricity poles and high-tension wires that provide electricity to Ogele, Afon, and its surrounding communities.
Residents of this environment are currently counting the extent of their losses, with many left without an abode. The community then has appealed to both government authorities and philanthropist organizations for assistance.
The Aare of Ogele Alhaji Abubakar Akanbi, whose own residence was also damaged, called on the government to provide aid to the affected individuals, including the Mufti of the community. Alhaji Issa Akanbi-Oniyo, Chairman of the Ogele Descendants Progressive Union (ODPU), emphasized that the storm had left numerous families homeless.
