Ebonyi First Lady appreciates Market Women for their unwavering support

The First Lady of Ebonyi State, Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru, today joined the Ebonyi Market Women Association in a heartwarming Thanksgiving Celebration at St Camillus Catholic Church, Onueke. The event, which brought together members of the association, market leaders, and citizens from across the state, served as an opportunity to express gratitude to Almighty God for His mercy, grace, and blessings upon the state and its people.

In her address, Mrs. Nwifuru, on behalf of her husband, the Governor of the state, Rt Hon Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and her entire family thanked the market women for their tireless work and unwavering support to both the First Family and the government of Ebonyi State. She spoke with deep appreciation for their role in the state’s economic and social development, describing the market women as the “pillars of our economy, the heartbeat of our communities, and the foundation upon which our society stands.”

“Whether you are selling food, clothing, or essential goods, you play a vital role in ensuring that our homes are nourished, our people are clothed, and our economy remains vibrant. The work you do is invaluable, and today, we acknowledge you with gratitude,” the First Lady stated.

The First Lady also reiterated the commitment of the state government and her foundation, BERWO, to continue to invest in programs aimed at empowering women, especially those involved in agriculture and small businesses. 

“We have launched initiatives that aim to empower women, from offering farm inputs and grants to improving access to healthcare, second-chance education, and training. Our focus remains on ensuring that you, the women of Ebonyi, have the tools and opportunities to succeed,” she affirmed.

In a homily Rev Fr Marsel Ezenwa urged everyone to always appreciate God for everything we have, as showing gratitude will bring more goodness from God. He further appreciated the Governor and Wife, as well as the entire Ebonyi women, for their coming to show appreciation to God for what he has done for the state.

In their separate remarks, the chairman of the occasion Chief Moses Ogodoali-Nomeh, and the President of Market Women Organization for Empowerment and Development/ SA to the Governor on Market Development Mrs. Adaeze Akochi appreciate the present administration led by Rt Hon Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and his wife Chief Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwifuru for providing enabling environment for all to do their business with ease and for the peace in Ebonyi state.

The highlight of the event was a special thanksgiving by each L.G.A market woman, an award to the Governor of the state and his wife for their support to all market women. There was also empowerment of the underprivileged and elderly. The event concluded with prayers for the continuous progress of Ebonyi State, for the well-being of the First Family, and for the blessings upon every market woman in the state.
