Abia Gov’t to partner with USMAC in technology development

Abia state government is working out modalities to partner with the US Market Access Center (USMAC) in the area of technological development.

Dr. Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia state, disclosed this when he received in the audience a delegation of the US Market Access Center (USMAC)led by the Chief Executive Officer, Chris Burry, on Tuesday at Nvosi Abia state.

 He said that the State Government is happy to partner with the company to harness the potential and human energy existing in Aba, the commercial nerve center of the State.

The Governor said that there is no better place if it is about entrepreneurship if you are thinking of investment than Abia state.

“When you talk of technology, that’s where we are heading. If it is about entrepreneurship, innovation, I think you have come to the best place,” Gov. Otti said.

The Governor said that there is huge potential and human energy available in Aba and requested the team to visit Aba to see things for themselves, saying that he wants their findings to be evidence-based.

“I want it to be evidence-based. So, go to Ariaria, go to other markets in Aba, and you will see things for yourself. We need to come from an evidence point of view”, Governor Otti declared. 

The Governor commissioned the team to interface with the Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mr. David Kalu, and members of the Governor’s team in charge of technology to work with the US Market Access Center (USMAC) and come up with recommendations on how best to collaborate with them.

He maintained that the administration is in a hurry to develop the potential in Abia and thereby create wealth and lift the people out of poverty. Hence, it always accepts credible prospective investors and partners.

Earlier in his speech, the leader of the delegation and Chief Executive Officer of US Market Access Center (USMAC), Mr. Chris Burry said that Abia is the first State the team is visiting with its proposal because of the innovations the Governor is bringing in the State.

He expressed their interest in investing in entrepreneurship development and skills acquisition, adding that the company wants to collaborate with the Abia State Government in various technological areas with opportunities in entrepreneurship education and skills acquisition, among others.
