The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has reaffirmed its commitment to excellent customer relations, professionalism and efficient service delivery as it commemorated the 2026 International Customer Service Week with the theme, “Going the Extra Mile, Creating a Lasting Smile.”

The three-day celebration, held from Wednesday, October 28, to Friday, October 30, 2026, featured activities designed to promote service excellence, strengthen customer relations and encourage professionalism across the Service.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, CGI KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, stated this while addressing the closing ceremony, where she emphasised the need to make excellent customer service an integral part of the Service’s daily operations.

Nandap stressed the importance of timely service delivery, prompt resolution of complaints and respectful treatment of customers, urging officers to demonstrate professionalism and integrity in their interactions with members of the public.

She also reaffirmed ongoing reforms aimed at improving customer satisfaction and entrenching Hostmanship, charging personnel to eliminate unnecessary delays and make customer satisfaction a key performance benchmark.

The Head of Operations, SERVICOM, Presidency, Mrs Ngozi Akinbodewa, commended the Service for evolving its SERVICOM Unit, describing the year’s celebration as an important step towards sustaining citizen-focused service delivery in line with global best practices.

Akinbodewa noted that International Customer Service Week provides an opportunity for organisations to recognise employees who go beyond routine expectations to meet customer needs and improve service experiences.

Similarly, the Special Assistant to the Comptroller-General of Immigration Service on SERVICOM, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, DCI AM Abubakar, emphasised accountability, responsiveness and adherence to established service standards, urging officers to continually improve their conduct.

The closing ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to deserving officers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to customer satisfaction and service excellence.

The Service reiterated its commitment to efficient, professional and technology-driven service delivery, improved customer satisfaction and the entrenchment of Hostmanship in carrying out its core responsibilities of border security and migration management in support of national security.
