…Nwakuche to remain in office until May 2028, Nandap’s tenure extended to June 2028

President Bola Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension of the tenures of the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nanna Nandap.

The approval was announced on Monday in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Under the extension, Nwakuche will remain in office until May 26, 2028, while Nandap’s tenure will run until June 30, 2028.

The extension followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aimed at addressing succession gaps in the two services and providing their respective boards with sufficient time to appoint successors.

President Tinubu commended both service chiefs for the reforms recorded under their leadership and urged them to consolidate the gains achieved in their respective organisations.

Nwakuche was nominated by President Tinubu as Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service in December 2024, while the Senate confirmed his appointment in March 2025.

Similarly, Nandap was nominated as Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service on February 21, 2024, and her appointment was confirmed by the Senate on March 1, 2024.

The latest decision will allow both officials to continue overseeing their respective services beyond their previously scheduled tenure periods, as the government moves to ensure continuity in leadership and provide time for succession arrangements.
