The Ogun State Police Command has arrested four police officers featured in a viral social media video showing them in the company of a civilian in the Ijagba-Ota area of the state.

The Command also said it had launched an investigation into the incident and initiated disciplinary proceedings to establish the circumstances surrounding the officers’ conduct.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, directed a thorough and impartial investigation, stressing the Command’s commitment to professional discipline, accountability and respect for citizens’ rights.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that all circumstances surrounding the incident would be carefully examined.

According to the statement, the Command would ensure that the investigation was guided by evidence and due process, adding that any officer found culpable would face appropriate disciplinary action in line with existing regulations.

The Command assured residents that the matter was receiving the necessary attention and reiterated that it would not compromise on professional standards.

It also appreciated members of the public for bringing the video to its attention, urging anyone with credible, first-hand information that could assist the investigation to cooperate with the relevant authorities.

However, the police cautioned against speculation and the circulation of unverified information that could prejudice the investigation.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Command said accountability and public trust remained essential to effective policing, assuring residents of its determination to address legitimate concerns, uphold professional standards and protect lives and property across the state.
