The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senatorial Flag Bearer Dr. David Olofu on Monday vowed not to Pocket the mandate of the people of Benue South Senatorial District for his personal gains but ensure that Democratic Dividends gets to the door steps of the people if elected Senator in the forthcoming Senatorial election.
Dr. Olofu made the vow while addressing members of the Correspondent’s Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council on his Senatorial Aspirations ahead of 2027 Senatorial election, maintained that gone are those days when an individual got the people’s mandate will pocket it and stays in overseas with out anything to show at home.
Olofu also the former Commissioner of Finance Benue State and the former Boss of the State Finance Commissioners of the federal Republic of Nigeria assured that his reign at the Senate as the Senator for Benue South Senatorial District with a new Dawn centered on the people.
According to him, he reside with his constituents and know all the challenges confronting them stand the better chance of proffering Dependable and permanent solution to their problems if elected their Senator.
Dr. Olofu further promised to restore the lost glory of Benue South Senatorial District in all sectors by ensuring that his development footprint are visible across education, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, community development, Health among other sectors shall receive a speedy boost under his watch as a Senator of elected.
The ADC Senatorial hopeful also disclosed that in areas that would be above his jurisdiction, he will continue to lobby the executive with the sole aim of attracting development to his Constituency and the State at large.
On his inauguration, the ADC Senatorial Candidate said he will constitute Benue South Assembly and Benue South Council with the responsible of providing him with the guide and direction to implement policies and programmes that has direct bearing on the lives of the people of Benue South Senatorial District.
Dr. Olofu highlighted some of his achievements in Benue South Senatorial District before his political Ambition to include; Community development, Scholarship to 200 indigene of Benue South Senatorial District comprising 9 local government areas of Apa, Otukpo, Ohimini, Ado, Okpokwu, Agatu, Ogbadibo, Oju and Obi respectively benefited equally for the first batch while another 100 indigene are billed for the second batch of the Scholarship.
He also disclosed that 100 Rural women have been selected and empowered across the 9 local government areas of the Benue South Senatorial District with the sum of N200, 000 for each woman and pledged that going forward 50 women shall be selected and empowered with the sum of N200, 000 each for every year, and this initiative is to cushion the hardship Rural women faced.
The ADC Senatorial hopeful also disclosed that he has instituted a grant of 10 million naira domiciled with St. Helen’s Hospital for free treatment and medical care for pregnant woman in Benue South Senatorial District which according to him is to cushion the hardship faced footing their hospital bills.
Dr. Olofu urged the people of Benue South Senatorial District to vote for him in the 2027 Senatorial election as their Senator who will restore the lost glory of Benue South.
