Edo Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has pledged to fulfil his commitment towards the completion of the ongoing Bishop’s Chapel project of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Edo-Delta.

Idahosa made the pledge on Sunday at the 2026 Diocesan Harvest and Lay Preachers Recognition Service held at the Methodist Church, Wesley Cathedral, Benin City.

According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Friday Aghedo, Idahosa, who served as Chief Harvester at the event, was honoured for his contributions towards the development of the Bishop’s Chapel.

Aghedo said the deputy governor, after receiving the recognition, expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his commitment to the completion of the project.

“It is always a great opportunity to be in the presence of God. I am grateful for this recognition and will follow through with my pledge towards the completion of this project,” Idahosa said.

He said his decision to personally attend the service was also informed by his respect for the Methodist Church, which he described as one of the oldest Christian denominations.

Idahosa also expressed admiration for the Bishop of the Edo-Delta Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr Nosakhare Nosayaba.

The former Edo Governor, Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, who was also recognised as Co-Harvester, was represented by his son, Eghe Nosakhare Igbinedion Jnr.

Eghe said initiatives that advanced the kingdom of God and promoted the spread of the gospel remained noble projects.

He described the harvest as an opportunity to appreciate God and give back through thanksgiving.

The Chairman of the Harvest Organising Committee, Prof. Yinka Omorogbe, said proceeds from the Harvest of Gratitude would be channelled towards the completion of a new church project along the bypass.

Omorogbe urged Christians, particularly younger members who had moved to other denominations, to remember their roots and maintain connections with the churches where their parents worshipped.

He noted that churches were generational institutions that should be preserved for future generations.

Earlier, Nosayaba commended Gov. Monday Okpebholo for what he described as people-oriented policies.

The bishop said the award recipients were carefully nominated in recognition of their contributions to the growth and development of the church.
