No negotiation with Bandits: Gov Lawal leads call for United Northwest front against insecurity

By:John Bassey, Gusau.

Zamfara State has taken centre stage in the fight against insecurity as it hosted a three-day Northwest Security Summit organised by the Nigeria Police Force.

Governor Dauda Lawal, called for stronger regional cooperation, real-time intelligence sharing, joint operations, improved surveillance and community policing to tackle banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other criminal activities.

He stressed that criminal networks operate across state boundaries and must therefore be confronted through a coordinated regional strategy.

Governor Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s firm position: no negotiation with criminals who reject peace and continue to threaten innocent citizens. Such criminals, he maintained, must face the full force of the law.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, also pledged stronger collaboration between the Police and Northwest states to share intelligence and take the fight directly to criminal elements.

Zamfara’s message is clear: peace is welcome, but criminality will not be rewarded.
