Massive voter turnout has been recorded across several polling units in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, as the ongoing governorship election continues peacefully, with only one case of failed facial verification by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) reported so far.

Our correspondent visited Ward 4, Isale/Oke-Afo, Units 001 to 009; Ward 6, Station Road, Units 001, 003 to 007 and Unit 011; and Ward 12, Unit 002, Eko Ende Court Hall, where voters were seen turning out to exercise their franchise.
The situation at the polling units remained largely calm and orderly, while electoral officials attended to voters and accreditation continued. Apart from Lasisi’s reported difficulty with facial verification, no other BVAS failure was observed or reported in the areas visited so far.
However, A 55-year-old voter, Sharafa Lasisi, encountered difficulties completing facial verification at Polling Unit 006, Ward 04, in the Isale/Oke-Afo area of Ikirun.
Lasisi said he made several attempts to have the BVAS machine recognise his face but was unsuccessful. According to him, electoral officials attributed the problem to network challenges and advised him to leave the polling unit and return later.
He said he complied with the instruction but faced the same difficulty when he returned to the polling unit, prompting him to appeal to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for assistance.
“My name is Sharafa Lasisi. I am from Alamisi Unit 6. I am 55 years old. I have been to where they are supposed to verify my face but they said the network isn’t letting the verification go through,” he said.
He added: “They said I should go and eat at home. I went and came back and it still didn’t go through. I want them to help me so I will be able to cast my vote also.”
