Ekiti Governorship Election: INEC commences Ward-Level results collation

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun collating results at ward centres following the conclusion of voting in the Ekiti State governorship election.

Reports indicate that electoral officials have commenced the transfer and collation of results from various polling units to designated ward collation centres across the state.

At the Ward 4 collation centre situated at Jonathan Memorial African Church in Ado-Ekiti, presiding officers were observed submitting results obtained from polling units within the ward.

Results from Polling Unit 13, located at A.U.D. Primary School/Ibukun Olu in Ado-Ekiti, showed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 140 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered seven votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded five votes.

Similarly, at Polling Unit 04 in front of Omesi Medicine Store near Olokun Compound, Ado-Ekiti, the APC polled 147 votes. The PDP received two votes, while the ADC scored one vote.

Meanwhile, some presiding officers alleged that they experienced attempts at intimidation during the conduct of the election.

One National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving as an electoral official claimed there were efforts to pressure officials into compromising the process.

According to the official, certain individuals attempted to influence electoral personnel during the exercise.

Another presiding officer disclosed that the voting process was initially peaceful but later witnessed tensions allegedly linked to vote-buying activities.

The official said disagreements erupted among voters following alleged financial inducement but noted that security operatives intervened promptly to restore order.

The officer also observed that voter turnout was relatively low, with only a limited number of registered voters participating at the polling unit.

The collation process is expected to continue at ward centres before results are transmitted to the various local government collation centres for further aggregation.
