The Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, has commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), for selecting Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Mrs. Balogun, a seasoned corporate executive and finance professional, is widely recognised for her extensive experience in finance, corporate governance, manufacturing, business transformation, and strategic leadership.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abeokuta by the State Media Director of the movement, Oluseun Joshua, and signed by Akintunde, the YPM described her nomination as a strategic and commendable decision that demonstrates the APC’s commitment to competence, inclusiveness, and balanced representation.
Akintunde said the choice of Mrs. Balogun reflects political foresight and a clear understanding of Ogun State’s diverse interests. He noted that her emergence, as the daughter of renowned industrialist, philanthropist, Chairman of Rite Foods Limited, and Asiwaju of Ijebuland, Alhaji Sulaiman Adegunwa, further underscores the party’s resolve to promote unity and equitable representation across the state.
According to him, with Senator Adeola hailing from Ogun West Senatorial District and Mrs. Balogun representing Ijebuland, the APC has strengthened its commitment to a fair rotational arrangement capable of fostering inclusiveness and enhancing governance.
“I celebrate our respected leaders and principals, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Senator Solomon Adeola, and our great party for putting the right peg in the right hole. This is indeed a balanced and strategic arrangement that positions the APC strongly ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State,” Akintunde stated.
He also highlighted the enduring contributions of Alhaji Sulaiman Adegunwa, whose entrepreneurial achievements through Rite Foods have created opportunities and positively impacted many lives, noting that his daughter’s emergence as deputy governorship candidate reflects the party’s recognition of competence, service, and broad-based representation.
Akintunde expressed confidence that Mrs. Balogun’s emergence as Senator Adeola’s running mate would further strengthen the APC’s chances in the 2027 general elections, stressing that the party remains driven by unity, inclusiveness, and a collective purpose.
Also speaking, the State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, commended the APC leadership for consolidating the party’s structure and positioning it for future success.
He expressed optimism that the party would secure overwhelming victories in the 2027 general elections, citing its strong grassroots presence, leadership credentials, and growing support base across Ogun State.
The Yayi Progressives Movement reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, political education, and the promotion of progressive leadership, pledging continued support for policies and leaders capable of delivering sustainable development, economic growth, and inclusive governance across Ogun State.
