Oyo royal family mourns as Prince Nurudeen Ishola Adeyemi passes on

The Alowolodu Ruling House of Oyo has been thrown into mourning following the death of Alhaji Prince Nurudeen Ishola Adeyemi, a respected member of the royal family and younger brother of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.

Prince Nurudeen reportedly passed away on June 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, generosity, and commitment to peace within and beyond the Oyo Kingdom.

Family members, friends, and associates described the late prince as a humble statesman who devoted much of his life to promoting harmony among people. Known for his calm disposition and sense of fairness, he was often called upon to mediate disputes, earning the respect of many across different walks of life.

Those who knew him closely recalled his willingness to support the less privileged and his reputation as a cheerful giver whose doors were always open to those in need. His contributions to community development and family unity endeared him to many within the ancient Oyo Kingdom.

The deceased was the father of Prince Abdulazeez Ademola Adeyemi, popularly known as Demmy, Prince Sulaiman Adeleye Adeyemi, the Chief Executive Officer of DLX Design, a renowned fashion brand based in Lagos State, Prince Ramon Adebiyi Adeyemi and several other children and relatives.

In a condolence message, the Alowolodu Ruling House described his passing as a painful and unexpected loss to the family. According to the family, Prince Nurudeen remained one of the most respected figures within the royal household, having spent many years alongside his elder brother, the late Alaafin, whose reign brought global recognition to the Oyo throne.

The family noted that his close association with the late monarch enabled him to build lasting relationships with prominent Nigerians and traditional institutions across the country, making him an influential figure within royal and social circles.
