The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has dismissed rumours circulating in some parts of the state alleging the presence of bandits, describing the information as false and misleading

The command stated that there is no confirmed case of bandit invasion or occupation in any part of Ondo State, as speculated in the rumours making the rounds.

However, the Commander of Ondo Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has directed all Area Commanders, the Coordinators, and Heads of tactical units to continue their 24/7 special patrols across the 18 Local Governments of the State, particularly around schools, Churches, public facilities, critical national assets, and other strategic locations to prevent and combat any kind of criminal activities.

The agency urged residents not to panic or spread unverified information capable of creating fear and unnecessary tension among the populace. 

“The information being circulated regarding the presence of bandits in the Akure metropolis is false. We advise members of the public to disregard such reports and refrain from spreading unverified information,” the statement noted.

“Citizens are encouraged to continue their lawful daily activities and business engagements without fear, while also remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.

The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the people of Ondo State and maintaining a safe environment for residents and visitors alike.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police  Command has also  debunked rumours of Bandit Presence in Akure, Urge Public to Remain Calm

The Ondo State Police Command has also dismissed the rumours currently circulating in some parts of Akure and on social media alleging an invasion of bandits within the metropolis.

The Command in a statement signed by the PRO, Abayomi Jimoh, said it wishes to assure residents, particularly parents, students, school authorities, and the general public, that there is no credible intelligence or reported incident indicating the presence or invasion of bandits in Akure. Comprehensive security assessments and intelligence gathering efforts conducted by the Command have not revealed any threat that should warrant panic or disruption of normal activities.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, urges parents and guardians not to be alarmed by unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear and anxiety. Students are encouraged to continue their academic activities without apprehension, as adequate security measures have been put in place across the state to guarantee the safety of lives and property.

“The Command warns individuals against the deliberate spread of false information capable of causing public disorder, noting that anyone found responsible for disseminating misinformation intended to incite panic will be investigated and dealt with in accordance with the law.

“Residents are advised to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity through the nearest police station or established emergency channels.”
