Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for a second term.

The governor emerged unopposed after APC card-carrying members from all 225 wards across the state unanimously endorsed him as their candidate.

The affirmation took place at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Chairman of the Election Committee, Alhaji Abdulmalik Mahmud, a former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, said the committee was sent by the APC national headquarters to conduct the governorship primary in Kebbi State.

“Our work here is very simple because the people of Kebbi, especially APC members, have already decided,” Mahmud said.

He confirmed that all 225 wards were represented at the venue, describing it as a signal of victory for the party.

“Having satisfied all the requirements of the party and the law, I, as Chairman of the APC Gubernatorial Primary Election in Kebbi State, hereby declare Gov. Nasir Idris as the gubernatorial flagbearer of the APC in Kebbi,” he announced.

In a statement by Comrade Ahmed Idris chief Press secretary to Kebbi state Governor, the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, said all 225 wards in Kebbi had unanimously agreed to return “Kauran Gwandu” as the party’s flagbearer.

“That is why we gathered to affirm the governor and pave the way for him to lead the state for another four years,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Gov. Idris assured residents of his commitment to deliver more developmental projects that directly impact lives.

“I am happy that our people have collectively said they trust us and want us to continue.

“This is a clear sign that you have faith in our leadership. We will do everything possible to provide quality leadership to the good people of Kebbi State,” he pledged.

The governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee, and Kebbi stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.

“I am humbled by this affirmation. I pledge to deepen the gains recorded in my first term and to run an inclusive government that leaves no community behind,” Idris said.

He called for unity among party members and urged citizens to sustain their support for the APC at all levels to consolidate development across the state.

“I cannot do it alone, with your continued support, we will make Kebbi a model of prosperity in Nigeria,” he added.
