The Zamfara state Police command under the leadership of CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello has responded swiftly to a desperate call on the command by people of Moda village in Anka LGA, over powered the bandits and recovered rustled cattle.
This was disclosed in a statement by DSP Yazid Abubakar, anipr, Police Public Relations Officer, for Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Police Command, Gusau.
According to the statement, on 14th May, 2026, at about 1700hrs, armed bandits invaded Moda Village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, shooting indiscriminately with the intent to rustle cattle belonging to residents of the community.
Regrettably, one person identified as Shehu Moda lost his life during the attack, while three other persons sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds.
Upon receipt of the distress call, Police operatives responded immediately and engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into the bush with suspected bullet wounds and abandon the rustled cattle.
The recovered cattle were successfully secured and restored to the rightful owners, while the injured victims were promptly evacuated to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
