The Zamfara state Students Association, ZAMSSA has honoured the pioneer Director General of Rural Access Roads Agency, Engr. Haruna Dikko Gusau with an annual Prestigious Award in recognition of his enormous contributions to the growth and stability of students associations in Zamfara state.
The ceremony took place at HRH. Kabiru Dan-Baba Hall at Federal College Of Education, Technical in Gusau the state capital.
The President of the newly inaugurated executive committee, ZAMSSA Comrade Lawal Bashir Gusau commended the effort of the Director General of RARA for his consistency in contributing to the educational success of children of less privileged people schooling at FCE-T, Gusau for past decades now.
The President pledged more collaboration with the RARA DG and other outstanding patrons in ensuring continuous support for students.
He maintained that, his administration shall focus on skills acquisition, stressing that “Education without proper skills amounts to joblessness”. The aim for planning to ensure every student is trained on skills is to prepare them to be supportive citizens and not dependent ones.
The skills acquisition however would assist the students to be self employed, contributing to the well-being of their families while waiting for any possible job opportunities from the state or federal government, he said.
Again, the Director of Socials, ZAMSSA Comrade Ahmad Garba lauded RARA DG, Engr. Haruna Dikko Gusau for his outstanding contributions in the areas of scholarship for students and timely assistance to ZAMSSA as an organization for the past years.
In response, the DG, RARA congratulated the past executive for keeping the Association together and sincerely assisting students of the less privileged in their tenure.
He urged the new Executive to follow their footsteps and ensure transparent administration, carrying everyone along as one indivisible family.
He called on the beneficiaries of several scholarships schemes promoted by him and other patrons to take advantage of the gesture and remain studious and seriously engaging in their studies so they could gain good grades and stand a chance of sponsoring scholarship schemes for others in the near future.
The award ceremony was attended by the member representing Talata Mafara West in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Hassan Mafara, the Honourable Commissioner Ministry for Commerce and Industries Malam Abdulraman Tumbido, Member, House of Representatives for Maru/Bungudu, Rt. Hon Abdulmalik Zannan-Bungudu, HRH, Emir of Katsina/Gusau Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello and other diginitiries within the state.
