The Kebbi State Government has launched 50 brand new 18-seater Toyota Commercial Buses for different routes across Nigeria.

Launching the vehicles at the newly reconstructed and remodeled motor park in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, Alhaji Umar Faruk-Buro, the Kebbi Political Leader, said the buses were meant to serve the good people of Kebbi State.

He assured that the buses would soon commence services for the benefit of all residents of Kebbi regardless of political, religious or ethnic leaning.

Faruk-Buro lamented that some people didn’t see anything good in good things, such people claimed that the buses were not for commercial transport but for campaign.

He said the essence of procuring the buses was to assist both the transport unions, the bus drivers, as well as the entire people of Kebbi State.

The political leader appealed to the bus drivers to be honest, fair and trustworthy in discharging their responsibilities for lasting service delivery.

He advised the unions to always liaise with security agencies, insisting that every passenger’s luggage should be screened before take-off of vehicles.

Faruk-Buro warned the drivers against carrying passengers outside the motor park to guard against eventualities.

In his speech, Hon. Bala Muhammad-Gagga, the State Commissioner for Transport, observed that the day remained a memorable day “for all of us.”

He described the remodeled motor park, reconstructed by His Excellency, as one of the best across Nigeria.

While commending Gov. Nasir Idris for the supply of the 50 brand new vehicles, Muhammad-Gagga urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of both vehicles and edifice for the collective good of the state.

The commissioner assured that the transport fare for the new buses would be subsidised compared to other private commercial operators for the betterment of Kebbi people.

Als in his remark, the Hon commissioner for physical planing Hayatu Bawa thank the Kebbi State Governor for the gesture, urge the user most especially the drivers to used judiciously and ensure good maintenance.
