The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega as Amirul Hajji for the 2026 Hajji exercise.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the Secretary to the State Government Alh Yakubu Bala Tafida, conveying the Governor’s approval for the composition of a delegation to oversee and coordinate Hajj operations for the state.
According to the Statement, the Governor also approved the constitution of a State Government Delegation/Committee for the 2026 Hajj Exercise.
Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega a former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, will serve as Chairman and Amirul Hajj. Other members of the delegation include prominent government officials, traditional title holders, and key stakeholders drawn from across the state.
The statement noted that the committee is mandated to ensure effective coordination of all Hajj-related activities, liaise with relevant agencies, and safeguard the welfare of Kebbi State pilgrims throughout the exercise.
The terms of reference of the delegation include ensuring compliance with all agreements between the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON), and airline operators; liaising with the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency on all matters relating to Hajj operations; and supervising the overall conduct of the 2026 Hajj with a view to advising the government on improved future operations.
