The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration, signaling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the government extended warm congratulations to Muslim faithful across the country on the successful completion of Ramadan.

The minister urged Muslims to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice, which are central to the holy month.

He also called on all Nigerians to use the festive period to offer prayers for the nation’s peace, unity, and continued prosperity.

While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and remember the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity.

The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among all citizens.
