Eze’s thunderbolt ends Leverkusen’s dream as Arsenal cruise through

Arsenal F.C. stormed into the Champions League quarter-finals as Eberechi Eze lit up the Emirates with a stunning strike in a 2-0 win over Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Often criticised for grinding out results, Mikel Arteta’s men silenced doubters with two clinical goals to seal a 3-1 aggregate triumph.

Eze’s long-range rocket broke the deadlock late in the first half, sending fans into a frenzy.

Declan Rice then delivered the killer blow after the break with a composed finish.

Arsenal had relied on Kai Havertz’s late penalty in the first leg, but looked far superior in the return fixture.

They now face Sporting CP, who staged a dramatic comeback to eliminate Bodø/Glimt 5-3 on aggregate.

The Gunners will take confidence from their 5-1 demolition of Sporting in last season’s group stage.

The win also serves as a timely boost ahead of their League Cup final clash with Manchester City F.C..

Chasing four trophies, Arsenal sit nine points clear at the top of the Premier League.

They are also preparing for an FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton F.C..

Despite their domestic dominance, Arsenal are still chasing a first-ever UEFA Champions League title.
