Shed the Weight and Sins That Can Easily Beset You

Hebrews 12:1
Beloved, the kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12). Those who take it by force are ready to shed their weight and sins through genuine repentance. Tragically, many have died without settling this debt or shedding their burdens, carrying them to their graves without turning a new leaf. Living in continual sin essentially means you are nailing Jesus Christ to the cross a second time. It is crucial to put an end to this in your life before it is too late. The Scripture tells us it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). In short, you must be redeemed and born again to avoid eternal damnation (Psalm 1:5).

The perilous times mentioned in Scripture have indeed arrived. Iniquities and sin abound (2 Timothy 3:1-13), and the fear of God has diminished in many hearts. The more sin we commit, the fewer opportunities we have to shed our burdens because the eyes of sinners cannot behold God’s glory. Only a few people who are willing to tread the narrow path that leads to eternal life will be favored on the last day. Those who deny themselves the pleasures of sin in this world to please the Lord by keeping His commandments and avoiding evil, and those who are always prepared to endure persecution for Christ’s sake through their steadfastness in the doctrine of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, as it has been foretold ( John 16: 33).

Jesus Christ has already paid the price for all of us so that we can stop committing sin. If you continue to sin, you must take responsibility for settling this debt by forsaking them. The Samaritan woman did not wait for Jesus to die for her sins before she sought redemption; she was saved and even testified to others who later also found salvation before Jesus ascended to heaven (John 4:7-42).

After His ascension, Jesus continued to pay the debt for those who are ready to forsake their sins and live a holy life, much like the Apostle Paul. Paul, formerly Saul, was a persecutor before he experienced salvation through Jesus Christ’s divine intervention on his way to Damascus. He risked dying in his sins and facing hell, but he willingly paid the price by forsaking the sin of persecution of believers and murder. He eventually became a vessel of honor worthy of the Master’s use, bringing glory to God the Father. His journey of salvation serves as a model for how one must settle their debt before they die. Ultimately, he left behind a powerful testimony when he said, “I have fought a good fight” (2 Timothy 4:7). He battled against everything that could make him lose his glorious home.

This opportunity to seek redemption will end when the rapture occurs, although no one can predict the time or season. Even the angels do not know; only God the Father knows the appointed time (Matthew 24:36-39). Those who die in sin before the rapture, without settling their souls’ salvation debt by surrendering their lives to Jesus Christ, will face eternal consequences in hell. It is important to note that only those who pay the price will be eligible to wear the crown of glory on the last day. May you be among them in Jesus’ mighty name.

Jesus Christ came to die for the sins of the whole world. Yet, only a few accepted Him and His teachings because narrow is the path that leads to life, and only a few tread this path (Matthew 7:14). He made all necessary provisions for the salvation of your soul before His ascension. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Souls are being saved today through the ever-shining stars like His Disciples, Evangelists, Apostles, Teachers, and other laborers in God’s vineyard (Daniel 12:3, Ephesians 4:11).

You might wonder why you still need to take personal responsibility after Jesus Christ has already paid the price.

Jesus paid the price once and for all so that we can stop living in sin. Therefore, if you are still sinning, you must take steps to reconcile with the Savior before it’s too late. During His lifetime, Jesus frequently instructed those He saved to “sin no more.” This is the essence of genuine salvation (John 5:5-14).

Beloved, this call to salvation is for us to re-examine ourselves to see whether we are still in the faith or continuing to nail Jesus Christ to the cross a second time. 1 Corinthians 10:12 warns that those who think they stand should take heed lest they fall. Settle your debt now by shedding all the weights and sins that can rob you of your glorious home—confess and forsake them (1 John 2:8-9).

Judas Iscariot and King Ahab refused to shed the weight and the sins of covetousness and murder, and they ultimately lost their glorious home. May that not be your fate in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Remain Blessed
