Army communications Chief visits OPFY in Zamfara

The Chief of Defence Communications, Maj Gen EO Agbebaku, conducted an assessment visit to Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma (HQ JTF OPFY), where he was received by the Theatre Commander, Maj Gen WB Idris, alongside principal staff officers and other senior officers at the Headquarters.

Media Information Officer OPF, Zamfara state, the visit was aimed at assessing the state of communication infrastructure and equipment deployed in support of ongoing operations within the Joint Operations Area. The assessment focused on evaluating operational readiness, efficiency of communication platforms, existing challenges, and measures required to enhance command and control capabilities in the theatre.

During the visit, the Chief of Defence Communications was briefed on the communication architecture of the operation, ongoing upgrades, and the sustainment plans in place to ensure seamless connectivity across sectors. He inspected key communication facilities and equipment and interacted with communication personnel to better understand operational realities and areas requiring intervention.

Maj Gen Agbebaku commended the commitment and professionalism of the troops, emphasizing that effective and secure communication remains a critical enabler in modern military operations. He urged personnel to remain dedicated and innovative in the discharge of their duties while assuring them of continued support in line with the strategic objectives of the Defence Headquarters.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, Maj Gen Idris, appreciated the visit and described it as timely, noting that it would further strengthen communication efficiency and enhance operational effectiveness in Operation Fansan Yamma.

Highlights of the visit included inspection of communication installations, operational briefings, interactive sessions with personnel, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph.
