The 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival has been a huge success, as Abubakar Usman from Maiyama Local Government Area took home the top prize as he catches 59kg fish, winning two brand-new Toyota vehicles and ₦1 million courtesy of Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu.

Second Place: Abdullahi Garba with a 40kg fish, won a Toyota saloon car and ₦1 million
Third Place: Dan Lanso and another contestant with 33-34kg fish, each took home ₦1 million and a motorcycle

The festival, which started in 1934, promotes peace and friendship between the Sokoto Caliphate and the Kebbi Kingdom. It features traditional wrestling, canoe racing, and cultural performances, attracting thousands of visitors in and outside the country.
