2027: Atiku seeks alternative platform as rumour of Obi, Kwankwaso ticket thickens

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is reportedly seeking an alternative political platform to actualize his 2027 presidential ambition.

According to impeccable sources close to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in then2023 presidential election, he is open to talk from other stable political parties as other contenders in the African Democratic Congress, ADC, are planning to snatch the ticket from him at the party’s primary election.

It was learnt that Atiku met with the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Yabagi Yusuf Sani, and other senior executives in view of defecting to the party with his teeming supporters across the country.

The meeting reportedly took place on Saturday at Atiku’s residence in Abuja.

The meeting is coming on the heels of rumours of an alliance between some opposition figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

There are rumours that former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and his Kano State counterpart, Rabiu Kwankwaso may get the African Democratic Congress, ADC, ticket to challenge President Bola Tinubu.

The move may not favour Atiku, who is also eyeing the ADC presidential ticket.

However, the ADP National Chairman, Yabagi Yusuf, who acknowledged meeting Atiku howeversaid the meeting with the former Vice President was not about a merger with any party.

He also stated that the engagement was not about recruiting any individual into the ADP.
