Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has urged Muslim worshippers to keep the newly remodelled mosques clean and tidy. He made the call during the commissioning of the Izala Jumu’at Mosque in Kebbe town, Kebbe Local Government Area.
The Governor explained that most Jumu’at mosques were in disrepair before his administration took over, prompting the renovation drive. “When we took over, most of our Jumu’at mosques were in a state of disrepair,” he said.
Governor Aliyu noted that 31 Jumu’at mosques have been completed and commissioned across the state since his administration began. He reaffirmed his commitment to providing religious and critical infrastructure.
Alhaji Yusha’u Kebbe, the Special Guest of Honour, praised Governor Aliyu’s people-oriented projects, especially the remodelling of religious infrastructure. He thanked the Governor for the work done on the Kebbe Izala Jumu’at Mosque.
The Sultan of Sokoto, represented by Wazirin Sokoto Prof. Sambo Wali Junaid, urged worshippers to use the mosque for its intended purpose. He assured Governor Aliyu of the Sultanate Council’s support for his administration’s efforts.
Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Jibir Sani Maihulla, said several other Jumu’at mosques are being renovated and are awaiting commissioning. Chairman of Kebbe Local Government, Musa Garba Kuchi, commended Governor Aliyu’s developmental projects.
The Chief Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Abubakar Muhammad, led the congregational prayers after the commissioning ceremony, marking the occasion with a two-rak’ah prayer.
