The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has intensified efforts to position the state as Africa’s premier tourism and creative destination through strategic global partnerships.
This development was disclosed via the Lagos State Government’s official X platform, highlighting ongoing engagements with global creative industry leaders aimed at expanding Lagos’ cultural influence globally.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, revealed the state’s readiness during a high-level meeting with the Vice President for Growth and Partnerships at Rolling Stone Africa, Mrs. Itohan Barlow-Ndukuba, and the Chief Executive Officer of Glam Brand Agency, Mrs. Bola Balogun.
The meeting focused on advancing cultural storytelling, strengthening diaspora engagement, and exploring international partnership opportunities designed to elevate Lagos’ tourism and creative sectors on the global stage.
Speaking at the engagement, the Commissioner noted that the discussions align with the Lagos State Government’s broader strategy to boost tourism, showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage, and expand its global cultural footprint through meaningful collaborations.
According to her, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State continues to pursue its vision of becoming a globally admired city driven by innovation, inclusiveness, and the preservation of its diverse cultural identity.
She added that through strategic alliances with key players in the global creative industry, the state aims to attract investment, engage both local and international audiences, and create sustainable economic opportunities within the tourism and creative economy.
In their remarks, Mrs. Itohan Barlow-Ndukuba and Mrs. Bola Balogun commended the Lagos State Government and the Commissioner for Tourism for their continued support for public-private partnerships, expressing optimism for more impactful engagements in the future.
