NSE Aims at strengthening institutional relationships with Ogun Ministry of Housing

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta Branch, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional relationships with the Ogun State Ministry of Housing during a courtesy visit to the Ministry’s office in Abeokuta. The visit was led by the Chairman of the Branch, Engr. Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu, FNSE, who paid a formal call on the Honourable Commissioner for Housing, Jamiu Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi.

Speaking during the visit, Engr. Idowu commended the Ogun State Government for its sustained efforts in housing delivery and urban development across the state. He described the Ministry’s initiatives as crucial to improving the living standards of residents and supporting orderly urban growth.

The NSE Chairman emphasized the statutory role of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in promoting engineering best practices, public safety, and quality assurance in the built environment. He expressed the readiness of the NSE Abeokuta Branch to partner with the Ministry by offering professional advisory services, technical support, and collaborative input on housing and infrastructure projects.

Engr. Idowu further noted that closer collaboration between the Ministry and the NSE would help ensure that housing projects are executed in line with established engineering standards and global best practices. According to him, such synergy would also enhance capacity building for engineers and improve project sustainability and durability.

In his response, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing, Jamiu Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, appreciated the courtesy visit and lauded the NSE for its professionalism and commitment to national development. He acknowledged the critical role engineers play in the planning, execution, and long-term sustainability of housing projects across Ogun State.

The Commissioner noted that collaboration with professional bodies such as the NSE would further strengthen quality delivery, regulatory compliance, and value creation in the housing sector. The visit concluded with mutual assurances of cooperation and a shared commitment to advancing sustainable housing development, infrastructure growth, and professional excellence in Ogun State.
